Finally, the answer

So I logged into Xanga to comment on someone's blog and figured I should answer the question that I posed in my previous blog entry from five months ago.  My favorite line from that video is (drumroll please, as if anyone cares anymore!)...

"Boo-yah, Boo-yah, Boo-yah, three boo-yahs, for the three days of the resurrection."

Does anyone remember the commercial that these videos are parodying?

Sermonspice.com

Hi everyone!

Sermonspice.com is offering a credit to those who blog about their website.  I have used some of their videos for sermon illustrations in the past.  There are some really thought provoking videos on the site.  However, some of the funniest ones have to be in the "Evangelism Linebacker" series.  Type in "Evangelism Linebacker" in the search or click here and nervously laugh, because we know that many times, the only thing that might get us to share our faith is a linebacker knocking us upside the head!

My favorite line is in the "Easter Linebacker" video.  Can you figure out what is my favorite line?

To Love or Not to Love

I read "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis a few years ago.  But I have recently rediscovered this quote in the book:

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket - safe, dark, motionless, airless-it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable...The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell."

I have really been affected by this, because this is where I really struggle.  I guess to some extent, we all struggle with this.  Is this what keeps us back from real relationships, with God and others?  By trying to protect ourselves from pain in relationships, does that mean we miss out on real life?  It seems so, for even Jesus chose a traitor to be one of His disciples.

I've thought about this in relation to college students and their quest to find someone to marry.  How does this concept apply?  I read a good article here.  Please let me know what you think.

March Madness!

No, I'm not really blogging...I'm just sick of seeing the Florida tale as the first thing I see when I open my home page.  So is there anyone out there still?  Will anyone read this?  Hears the sound of his voice echoing in the darkness...

If you do, find a Rita's Italian Ices today and head over there to celebrate Spring with a free Italian ice!

To Florida and Back Again...A Godfather's Tale

Two weeks ago after leading prayer meeting, I went home and was up until 11:30.  I went to bed, only to get up at 4 a.m. Thursday morning to get ready for my ride to the State College Airport for a 6 a.m. flight to Philly.  Once I arrived in Philly, I discovered that I was in terminal F and had to be in terminal C in order to catch my 8:00 flight to Orlando.  So I ran to the shuttle, just to arrive as the operator was yelling, “Last call for terminals B, C, and D!”  I got to the gate, only to find out that the flight was delayed until 9:10.  So I was able to leave for Orlando an hour late.  I arrived in Orlando at around 12:30, only to wait for an hour for the dealership to come pick me up.  (What dealership?  Well, in preparation for our new addition, I bought a minivan on Ebay!)

Finally, Ali, a Pakistani gentleman, picked me up.  We drove for about a half hour to the dealership, and had an interesting discussion about international politics.  Once we arrived at the dealership, I waited again and finalized the paperwork for the minivan.  Two hours later, I finally left the dealership.  Now it is 3 p.m., and I had hoped to begin my 16 hour drive back to State College three hours earlier!  I went to Wal-Mart, bought a bunch of snacks and caffeine, and then hit the road.  I listened to "The Hobbit" on CD as I drove.  It certainly kept me awake, as it was the dramatized version (I still have the voice of Gandalf etched into my brain!)  Empowered by prayer for God’s strength to stay awake (and caffeine!), I was able to drive until 3 a.m. Friday morning when I started to go cross-eyed.  I probably went right by Loeschdogg's and Kristen's house, but I didn't want to knock on your door at 2 am!

I stopped, slept for three hours, and then hit the road again, arriving in State College at about 12:30 Friday afternoon.  I hopped into bed for about an hour and a half, only to wake up to drive for another two hours for another meeting.  We arrived around 11:30, got a good night’s sleep, and had a good meeting.  We finally arrived back home in State College around 11 p.m on Sunday night.  It took me until about Wednesday to recover.
